Juicy and sugary, pears are what nature had in mind when it comes to a treat. Between late summer and fall, you can find an endless variety of pears to choose from in most grocery stores, although the standard Bosc pear is available in most areas year round.

Despite tasting a little like candy, pears are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, and the unique acids in pears are believed to prevent cancers of the stomach and lungs. This fruit can also aid in digestion, and, when combined with other fruits and vegetables, can turn your juice into an all-in-one multivitamin.

Although there are a lot of things in your produce aisle that are decent year round, most pears are best in season. While it’s fine to pick a few up in March if you have a hankering, take advantage of this fruit when it’s at its peak for the best nutritional bang for your buck.

It can also be a good idea to be a little adventurous when picking out your pears for juicing recipes. Although all delicious, each one has its own unique flavor profile. If available, check out the unbelievably juicy Asian pear or the aromatic red Anjou for a new twist on an old favorite.

Here are some favorite pear juice recipes to get you started. You can alter the quantities or the ingredients based on your personal preferences.
